Easy Sugar Cookies Recipe

Here is a simple recipe for making sugar cookies:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until creamy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  4. Divide the dough into two equal pieces and wrap each piece in plastic wrap. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll out one piece of the dough to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. Use cookie cutters to cut out the cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Repeat with the remaining dough, rolling it out and cutting out the cookies as before.
  9. Serve the cookies warm or at room temperature. You can also store the cookies in an airtight container for later use. Enjoy!
