Here is a simple recipe for making sugar cookies:
Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until creamy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Divide the dough into two equal pieces and wrap each piece in plastic wrap. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out one piece of the dough to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. Use cookie cutters to cut out the cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Repeat with the remaining dough, rolling it out and cutting out the cookies as before.
- Serve the cookies warm or at room temperature. You can also store the cookies in an airtight container for later use. Enjoy!
